Speakers
Jonghyun Baek, CEO of HEA Jonghyun studied urban design and landscape architecture at Seoul National University for his bachelor’s degree. He received a master’s degree in landscape architecture from Harvard University Graduate School of Design and founded HEA in 2018. Before establishing HEA, he co-founded ecoid in Boston, USA and worked as a principal. At HEA, Jonghyun is concentrating on creating a sustainable social impact through landscape practices and has led over 200 landscape design projects in South Korea. Jonghyun has won numerous awards through design competitions such as ‘Gwanggyo Central Plaza International Competition(2023)’, ‘Mokdong-gyo MZ Sports Plaza Design Competition(2022)’, ‘Buyeo Public Library, Living Culture Center and Cultural Park Design Competition(2022)’.
Youngmin Kim, Design director of VIRON Youngmin is a professor at the University of Seoul, and the design director at VRION, a landscape architecture firm in Korea. He studied architecture and landscape architecture at Seoul National University and received MLA at Harvard University. Youngmin has been searching for a new interdisciplinary foundation that can link contemporary practice and theory in architecture, landscape, and urbanism. He is also an author, editor, and translator of various books on landscape design and urbanism. He designed major urban design and landscape projects in Korea, including Paris Park Renovation, Gwanghwamun Square Renovation, and Administrative City Central Plaza.
