Wastelands are territories deemed unproductive, degraded, or abandoned, often through shifting political and economic classifications. Yet these spaces frequently harbor resilience, biodiversity, and informal uses. Wastelands challenge normative categories of value and design, revealing landscape as contingent on designation rather than essence. They embody both stigma and potential.
