Provocation

Provocation in design is the deliberate act of unsettling—posing questions, stirring discomfort, refusing easy acceptance. As landscapes are often framed as soothing or ornamental, provocation works against the grain. It makes the uncomfortable sensible; climate collapse, social inequality, ecological destruction, through spatial confrontation. Provocation is also a form of activism: design as critique. A provocative space engages users not with harmony but with friction, dissensus and dissonance, asking them to reflect, question, and act.
